Townies Pizzeria Manager Robby Ward presents Team Fernandina Stingrays with a $2,000 ceremonial check to celebrate the “Italian street food” restaurant’s support of sports and youth in the local community.

Townies Pizzeria presented a $2,000 check to the Team Fernandina Stingrays swim team, which goes towards the Scholarship & Amelia Island Lifesaving Association fund and swim equipment.

“The Shelton Scholarship & Amelia Island Lifesaving Association fund is used to cover the membership fees and swimsuit cost for swimmers who cannot afford to pay the fees, but who want to participate on our team,” said Jenn Gower, Team Fernandina Stingrays treasurer. “Thanks to Townies Pizzeria, not only can we bolster the fund, but we can also purchase swim equipment and supplies that we need for our swim meets. We are so thankful that the community supports this youth activity.”

TFS is committed to introducing children between the ages of four and 18 to the sport and helping children develop the necessary skills for competitive swimming, all while having fun and learning to be part of a team.

“We fully support the Team Fernandina Stingrays swim team’s mission to keep kids healthy and active,” said Matt Klabacka, owner of Townies Pizzeria. “Providing aide to children’s sporting activities keeps them active and shows that the community is committed to the things they are involved in to ensure their success.”

Townies Pizzeria is dedicated to supporting the arts, education, sports, environmental programs, military veterans and first responders through community giving in financial support as well as in kind donations. Townies Pizzeria is celebrating its most successful year in business since its founding.
