West Nassau Historical Society representatives John Hendricks (L), museum director, and Emily Baumgartner (R), president, accept the Tom Raymond Collection from Rebecca Raymond (C) .

West Nassau Historical Society President Emily Baumgartner, on the right, and museum director John Hendricks stand with Rebecca Raymond as she completes delivery of the Raymond Collection to the museum. Tom Raymond was a student of local history, a well-published author, and an avid collector of all things about locomotives. His widow proudly delivered the last of his collection of trains to the historical society’s museum, as well as the portion of his extensive stamp collection that concentrates on trains from around the world.

The West Nassau Historical Society Museum is in the historic train depot on Dixie Avenue in Callahan. It had its beginnings in 2008, when a collector of railroad memorabilia approached the society about establishing a permanent home for his collection. That collection has been expanded to reflect the history of West Nassau County, and includes maps, photographs, and permanent displays reflecting the county’s agricultural and aviation activities. Go to www.wnhsfl.org for more information about the museum and its activities, including the Hobos, Hot Rods, and Heroes Festival/Car Show on November 16th.
