If you are considering a run for a Nassau County elected office, you’d better get busy. According to the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) website (www.votenassau.com), qualification for such positions will be done between noon on June 16 and noon June 20, 2014. This applies for county commission seats, school board seats, and seats on special districts. Some candidates have already opened accounts and submitted financial reports as declared candidates.
The chart below was taken from the SOE website on June 8, 2014:
Candidates for Fernandina Beach City Commission Groups 2 and 3 seats have a bit longer to prepare for qualification, which begins at 8:00 a.m. on July 7 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 8, 2014. Check the city website (www.fbfl.us) for the most up-to-date information.

Steve Kelley builds his campaign war chest with a $50,000 loan. Wow, that is sure to knock out any “pests” if it only was a battle decided by spending.
Fortunately for the people it isn’t “a battle decided by spending,” but rather by votes. I would much rather have raised $50.00 from a thousand people rather than $1,000.00 from fifty people. The District 2 race offers the voters a clear comparison between two candidates, each of whom have served one term as a Nassau County Commissioner. I urge voters to make that comparison and vote accordingly.
Sure would be great to update this board. Too many, too long, too backwards.
If you are talking about the financial information, candidates are only required to file financial reports at set intervals so the SOE has to wait until those timeframes to update.
