Now is your chance to bring your old and worn flags to the closest UPS store for their proper disposal. The Amelia Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 14 at Nassau County Fire Station 20, 5518 First Coast Highway. The chapter retired 100 flags last year, and hopes to retire more at this year’s ceremony. You may turn your flags in as late as June 9th.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is the largest women’s service organization in the world and contributes over one million volunteer hours a year. The almost 200 members of the Amelia Island Chapter contribute approximately 5,000 volunteer hours and $4,000 in scholarships and awards in Nassau County each year.
