Voters are taking advantage of two convenient voting options this election cycle – early voting and voting by mail.

Early voting began in Nassau County on August 4th and showed steady activity for the first three days.  As of August 6th, over 1,000 voters had already cast their ballot at the early voting sites in Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Callahan and Hilliard.

Registered voters may cast their ballot at any of the following four early voting sites in Nassau County through Saturday August 11th, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.:

Fernandina Beach City Hall

204 Ash Street

Fernandina Beach

Early voting sites are not open on Election Day – you must vote at your assigned polling place on August 14.  Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Election Day, August 14.

Remember to bring your current and valid photo and signature identification with you to vote.  If you do not have the required identification, you will be allowed to vote a provisional ballot.

Additionally, over 7,000 Vote by Mail ballot requests were received by the Supervisor of Elections office with approximately 3,000 being returned as of August 6.

The last day to request a Vote by Mail ballot to be mailed is August 8.  You may request a Vote by Mail ballot from the Elections Office in person, by phone, mail or online at www.votenassau.com and select Request a Vote by Mail Ballot.  Once your ballot has been requested, you can track the status on the website by selecting My Voter Information.

No matter how you choose to vote it is always important to make sure the information and the signature on your voter registration record is current.  Your signature on Vote by Mail ballots and provisional ballots is compared to the signature contained in your record.  If they don’t match, the ballot cannot be counted.

Having a current address will avoid delays and paperwork at the early voting site or polling place and facilitate the delivery of important election mail, including Vote by Mail ballots, sample ballots and voter information cards.

If you have moved from outside of Nassau County and are a registered voter in Florida, call the elections office to update your address before going to vote.  Florida law requires out of county voters updating their address at the early voting site or polling place to vote by provisional ballot, which requires review by the Nassau County Canvassing Board for acceptance.  Updating your address before going to vote will eliminate the provisional ballot paperwork having to be completed at the early voting site or polling place.
