Ocean, Port and Highways Authority Commissioner Miriam Hill met with 40 Port community members on Sunday afternoon to talk about their concerns. Commissioner Hill indicated that the Port is moving forward with the Port Director’s position and the master planning process. Commissioner Hill told those gathered the best way to affect the future of the Port is by direct communication with the Board members and engagement in the strategic plan. Grassroots leader, Tammi Kosack, reinforced community support for the Port and the workers. Community members voiced concerns about Port operations including the forced queuing of transport trucks on city streets while drivers have no access to bathroom facilities or basic needs. Also in attendance were Police Chief Mark Foxworth and Captain David Bishop.
