A warning to local property owners courtesy of the Amelia Tree Conservancy

Posted on April 22, 2022April 22, 2022 by Press Release

April 22, 2022

A tree company has been knocking on doors and distributing flyers to get business cutting down trees on Amelia Island. Despite City and County efforts, this has been going on since January. They are telling folks their trees are diseased, sick, rotten, or an insurance problem, when in fact that is not the case. This is not a local company and it is not reputable—they have serious complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Yelp.  Homeowners who remove trees without proof of danger may violate Title XI Section 162.045 Florida Statutes as well as local City and County ordinances.

If you live in the City: (https://www.fbfl.us/367/Trees)

o Call the police & report their soliciting: (904) 277-7342 or Call David Neville, Urban Forester: (904) 310-3484
o Call Code Enforcement: (904) 310-3440

If you live in the County: (https://www.nassaucountyfl.com/1217/Tree- Preservation-and-Mitigation)

o Call Code Enforcement: (904) 530-6200
o Call Garner Cox, County Arborist: (904) 832-4804

We need our trees for stormwater processing, protection from storm winds, temperature moderation, especially in the face of climate change and sea level rise.
