Small Business Fair to be held September 19

$1000 Start-Ups Small Business Fair
Press Release
September 16, 2020

The $1,000 Start-Ups Small Business Fair will be Saturday, September 19th from 10 AM – 2 PM at Macedonia AME Church, 202 S 9th Street. The Fair will feature 25 small businesses from the local area, food, snow cones, and a bounce house. There will be performances and special events throughout the day and prize drawings throughout the day. Sponsored by Bridging the Gap – Cracking the Codes.

To promote Economic Opportunity, Bridging the Gap and Cracking the Codes partnered with Leah Ward-Lee, local entrepreneur and author of $1,000 Start-Ups, and Tony Lee, local business owner and author of The Bartender’s Guide to Financial Freedom, to offer Entrepreneurship and Financial Management courses. The courses, offered on Zoom, started in April 2020, and were coupled with a $1,000 business start-up grant to anyone in the local area who successfully completed the program.

The graduating class will be introducing their businesses to the community at three Small Business Fairs. They are inviting the community to the fair and local area small businesses to display. There will be lots of yummy samples to try.

The first Small Business Fair will be Saturday, August 29th, from 10-2 on the lawn of Macedonia AME on the corner of Beech & 9th Street. (Masks are available and required and Social Distancing will be observed.)

As space is limited for the first fair, if you know of a small business who would like to display and sell their products, please ask them to contact Leah Ward-Lee, [email protected].

There is NO COST to participate in this event.
