Qualification for November city elections ends Friday

Qualification for Groups 4 and 5 seats on the Fernandina Beach City Commission runs through this week, ending at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28. The deadline for qualifying by petition has passed. Candidates filing this week must pay a fee of $360 to become qualified.

All qualified candidates must also pay a $120 election assessment fee by the end of the week.

To qualify, a candidate must be a resident of Fernandina Beach.

Incumbent Commissioner Pat Gass (Group 4) has not yet indicated her intention to seek reelection; incumbent Commissioner/Mayor Ed Boner (Group 5) has indicated that he will not seek reelection. To date, the following candidates have qualified by petition:

Group 4: Clinch Kavanaugh and Len Kreger

Group 5: Jennifer Schriver and Roy Smith

I completed all qualification requirements this morning. I will be issuing my election qualifications and goals next week.
