“A June 29th narcotics operation by Fernandina Beach Police resulted in the arrest of a Jacksonville man at Main Beach for trafficking in prescription narcotics.

Robert Edward Simmons Jr., thirty-one years of age, was arrested at the scene after he sold sixty (60) hydrocodone pills and (10) ten additional (still unknown) pills to a confidential informant.  Simmons traveled to Fernandina Beach from Duval County and delivered the illegal prescription pills to the police informant for $440, claiming that they were “pain killers.”

Fernandina Beach detectives took Simmons into custody at 5:15 PM without incident in the north parking lot at Main Beach.  Simmons was charged with drug trafficking of illegal prescription medications.

Simmons is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail on a $50,002.00 bond.
