Peck Ensemble to celebrate “The Civil Rights Movement: A Retrospective in Song” – February 9

The Peck Community Ensemble will begin their 25th season with “The Civil Rights Movement: A Retrospective in Song.” The concert will be staged at Amelia Musical Playhouse (AMP), on Friday, February 9th at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will feature some of the songs based on the Spirituals and hymns that furthered the cause of justice and equality in the United States from 1954 to 1968.

In addition to the ensemble, several community youths will present recitations about children and teenagers who were a part of the movement. Faith Mitchell, a young adult from the Fernandina Beach community, will present an interpretive dance to Nina Simone’s “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free.”
