On October 25, 2018, Writers by the Sea (WBTS) Presented — for the last time — Nadine Vaughan D’Ardenne. As writers gathered to celebrate All Saints Day, Dr. D’Ardenne, our WBTS Director, announced she is stepping down after five wonderful years of putting together (over 60) presentations for Writers by the Sea Presents…. Nadine expressed her heart-felt appreciation for all of the friendships and support she received. She made this decision in order to have time to focus on her own writing. The good news is that at the recent Florida Writers Association (FWA), Conference in Alta Monte Springs, Nadine spoke with two publishers who are interested in her work.
There is no bad news.
Dr. Vaughan D’Ardenne leaves our group in the capable hands of Executive Board members, Marla McDaniels and Jimmy Weinsier. It will now be up to them to decide whether they want to continue the larger group presentations or shift to our on-going smaller critique groups — or something else. If you are a writer — or would like to become one — please let Marla or Jimmy know if you prefer smaller groups, larger gatherings, or if like the idea of small with periodic larger presentations… and how you can help. If you are able to help out, please let them know. It will make a difference.
In Dr. Vaughan D’Ardenne’s words, “Supporting our local writers over these past few years has been a labor of love and leaving is not been a decision I made lightly. But after much consideration, I notified our parent organization, Florida Writers Association (FWA), that I would be stepping down and turning the group over to our Executive Board.” She ends with “Happy writing to all, with love!
