Bill George, will be the guest speaker at this year’s first Wild Amelia “Wild Nite.”

The first Wild Amelia “Wild Nite” of the 2021-22 program year is scheduled for 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 12.  The featured topic is Black Skimmers, year-round residents of Amelia Island who feed on the small fish and other invertebrates in the coastal waters.  NOTE: The Black Skimmer was selected by the Wild Amelia Board as “Critter of the Year” for 2020-21.

The guest speaker will be Bill George, president of the Amelia Island Bird Club.  Previously, Bill served as President of the Minnesota Ornithologists Union for three years. In addition, Bill was on the Board of Minnesota Audubon for six years.  He has led field trips in Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Each February Bill participates in a survey of shorebirds and Black Skimmers for Florida Audubon from Ft. Clinch to Peter’s Point.
