The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed – or relicensed — to operate in our city last month:

During May 2017, the city surveyed 375 permits, an increase of 86 over May 2016. This brought the city $224,130 in fees. Permits were issued for 17 new residential buildings and one commercial building. Three demolition permits were issued. Plumbing (38), mechanical (83) and electrical permits (59) accounted for the highest number by category.

The year-to-date permit total is 1,664: 141 more than for the comparable period last year with new commercial and residential construction permits up 15 from 61 at this time in 2016.
