Nassau County Council on Aging, Florida Blue & Walgreens offer FREE flu shots

Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA), Florida Blue and Walgreen’s are partnering to provide FREE* drive-up flu shots – standard and high-dose available – to any adult (18 years of age and over). Two dates are available: Friday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon, at NCCOA’s Fernandina Beach Life Center, 1901 Island Walk Way. Shots will be administered in the front parking lot; just follow the signs. Call the Fernandina Beach Life Center at 904-261-0701 to schedule an appointment.

*Flu shots are free under Medicare Part B; Walgreen’s will bill private insurance companies. Insurance is not a requirement; however, no-cost vouchers are limited.

Flu shots can not really be “free.” They are paid for by the taxpayer. It could be that Pharmaceutical Industry lobbyists are more effective than the flu shot itself.
