Nassau County Board of Commissioners continues budget discussions

Submitted by Susan Hardee Steger

For over four hours, the Nassau County Board of Commissions discussed the fiscal year 2013- 2014 budget.    Jim Schoettler’s report in the Florida Times Union “Nassau County Commissioner continue to grapple large budget gap” indicates:

“The only action taken by the commission was to unanimously restore $1.78 million into the budget to build a major business road — known as Loop Road Phase 4 — in the heart of Yulee by using $755,000 in impact fees and the rest from the remaining money in the reserve fill by the penny tax.”

Surviving the cuts is the $600,000 county contribution planned for the library.  The next budget meeting is scheduled for August 21.
