This weekend at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Conference, West Nassau High School’s Entrepreneurship Team of Luke Libby and Kameron Witt led a group of six finalists from Nassau County. Libby and Witt placed second in their event at the state competition held this past weekend at the Orlando Hilton Resort and Convention Center. Over 50 students from five Nassau County schools competed in various events related to business, sales, customer service, and technology careers. Students qualified for the state-level competition by winning their respective categories at the FBLA District IV Conference in January.

Andrew Huber (HMSHS), 3rd Place in Intro to Computer Science and Coding. 4th place finisher’s Robert Cooke (YMS) and Beatrice Davis (YHS). Cooke competed in Career Explorations and Davis competed in Help Desk.

This year, Hilliard Middle/Senior High School expanded their chapter to include middle school students. Sixth grader Andrew Huber took advantage of the opportunity, placing 3rd in the Introduction to Computer Science and Coding Event. Beatrice Davis (YHS) placed 4th in the Help Desk competition, and Robert Cooke (YMS) also placed 4th in Career Explorations. Carlene Tompkins (WNHS) rounded out Nassau County’s finalists with a 5th place finish in Client Services.

Brody Mandelbaum (FBHS) – Newly elected FBLA Region II VP

Brody Mandelbaum (FBHS) became the first Nassau County student in over a decade to be elected to a state office. He will serve as the State Vice President for Region II. The position is the top position in Northeast and North Central Florida and is a cabinet-level position for Florida FBLA. To win the position, Mandelbaum put together a campaign team, gave a speech to the crowd of over 4,000 students, and networked throughout the state convention to garner votes.
