The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed to operate in our city last month. Note the high number of vehicles for hire that provide service in the city but are not physically located in the city.

Building permitDuring March 2016, the city surveyed 342 permits, 110 more than the same period in 2015. This activity brought the city $247,605 in fees. Permits were issued for 20 new buildings. In March 2015, only 5 permits were issued for new buildings, all residential.

Building permits for the first three months of 2016 are running far ahead of last year (876 to 673).
