Editor’s Note: Jeff Klinkenberg, noted author, feature writer, and an occasional visitor to Amelia Island recently published a article in the April 3rd addition of the Tampa Bay Times entitled  “For Mayport ferryman, a rapid rhythm on the river.” B.J. Hart is a ferryman who brings a smile to faces of many a traveler who boards the Mayport Ferry. Enjoy!

BJ will brighten up your day for sure. His laughter and cheer is infectious to all that take a moment and watch and listen to him. Love his salute with a wipe of the bill of his cap and that flashing smile. Sad to hear of his wife’s illness but know that he always bring joy to her heart and takes great care of her. The Mayport Ferry ride just isn’t the same if BJ isn’t onboard.
