Why do you feel that you are the best qualified candidate for city commission at this time?

My private sector business background in management included developing and implementing strategic plans, budgeting, and direct line reporting responsibility. I was hired by two companies to manage them from losing money to making a profit. In both cases, sustained profitability was restored in less than two years by increasing revenue and trimming excess cost and waste. Changing the current course of continuous higher taxes for property and business owners in this city is going to take bold leadership and experience. We need to encourage business growth rather than inhibit it by suffocating impact fees and high taxes. I believe my background of extensive business knowledge and experience will help restore this city to a position of financial stability.

Editor’s Note:  This is the last in a series of questions posed to candidates for the Fernandina Beach City Commission.   The answers come to our readers unedited and in the candidates own words.  We rotate the order of candidates from week to week.  Ed Boner and incumbent Tim Poynter will seek Group 4, John Campbell Elwell and Pat K Gass will seek  Group 5.
