Holiday guidance for Long Term Care Facilities

Nassau County Emergency Management
November 25, 2020

As the holiday season approaches, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) has released a Holiday Leave Recommendation Letter to help keep Long Term Care facilities, residents, and their families safe for the upcoming holidays. These recommendations are addressed to nursing homes but are appropriate for assisted living facilities and other long term care facilities. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a webpage on holiday celebrations, which has more suggestions for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Please continue to follow the guidance provided by the Florida Department of Health and the CDC to keep our facilities, residents, and their families safe this holiday season and beyond.

We are recommending that travel be avoided if at all possible right now due to rising cases. We are moving towards tighter lock down restrictions and asking more questions. We are canceling all non essential appointments and taking steps to ensure we step up testing of staff and residents at Dayspring Senior Living and Dayspring Village- we will continue to facilitate safe on campus family visits and excursions to local parks during off peak hours and we will continue with on site medical and mental assessments to monitor residents as we move towards vaccine on or around December 11th – please understand this COVID19 is raging right now and a major spike is coming in the next two weeks
