Editor’s Note: We received the following information from Doug Adkins after a 13-1 vote by a committee of the Center for Disease Control recommended that the staff and residents of Health Care Facilities be the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

“We applaud the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and believe that this will help speed relief to the residents, staff, and the frontline workers who have worked so hard in Florida to care for the most vulnerable for many months. Here at Dayspring Senior Living and Dayspring Village we have implemented our second “hard lock down” this year in an effort to protect residents and ensure their health and safety while the vaccines. Hope for so many Floridians is on the way . . .” said Adkins.

Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration issued an emergency rule granting emergency access to ensure that vaccinations can proceed quickly. The rule requires a mandatory entry for Authorized Representatives into the facility for the purpose of conducting voluntary COVID-19 staff and resident vaccinations.
