Great Southern Tailgate Cookoff – A Success

The Amelia Island Tourism and Development Council estimates between 10 and 15 thousand people enjoyed the 3rd annual cook-off this past weekend (August 24th and 25th).  The smells of barbecue and the sounds of music mixed with the beautiful weather to make the perfect backdrop.

The Grand Champion Prize winner was the B&T BBQ team from Thomasville, Georgia.

Also pictured is another first place winner for the People’s Choice Category –Chicken, Mike Ferrara of Chow’n Down Bar BQ from Everett, Washington.  He is pictured with the Green Egg prize.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The event culminated in a rocking performance by the Little River Band. Dancing, clapping, and singing fans were treated to a fabulous non-stop performance as the sun set behind the beach front stage.  This event was certainly one of the best of the year in our area.  For more information and pictures go to gstailgate.com.
