Groups are now available in Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Hilliard

NAMI Nassau County FL introduces four support groups for friends and family of people with mental health challenges. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) conducts support groups with trained facilitators following the NAMI signature structure, similar to that of Al-Anon, in a safe, judgment-free space. Meetings are structured, confidential and inclusive. Anyone 18 years or older is welcome.

Hilliard Group – This NEW group will meet Wednesday, March 2 from 12 noon to 1:30 PM at the Hilliard Journey Church, 550974 US-1, Hilliard, FL opposite the Winn Dixie shopping plaza. Subsequent meetings will be the first Wednesday of every month at noon at the same location.

Yulee Group – This NEW group will meet the third Tuesday from 6:30 – 8 PM at Journey Church, 95707 Amelia Concourse, Yulee, FL starting the third Tuesday in March (March 17) and meeting every third Tuesday thereafter.

Fernandina Group – This existing group meets the first Tuesday from 6:30 – 8 PM at the Alachua Club, 32 N 3rd Street, downtown Fernandina Beach.

Zoom Group – This NEW group will meet the second Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 PM via zoom starting the first Tuesday in April (April 12).

Nancy Bell, President of NAMI Nassau County FL, says, “NAMI is the place to turn when you don’t know where else to go or what to do. Your family and friends may not want to hear you or be able to help, especially in this time of fear, isolation and uncertainty. More than 7,500 Floridians died from opioid overdoses in 2020, a 37 percent increase from 2019, and nearly one-third of Floridian adults reported symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder in October 2021. Over 35,000 Floridian children and youth were subject to involuntary emergency behavioral health examinations initiated under the Baker Act in 2020.”

These FREE support groups are led by volunteer facilitators just like you who have “been there and done that” when it comes to coping with mental health challenges affecting a friend or loved one. We provide support and information based on our lived experience and access to NAMI resources but no treatment or advice.
