Editor’s Note: This letter, written by Nassau County Clerk of Courts John Crawford, was received today in response to a June 30 Nassau County Commission Workshop. It’s perplexing that citizens are being presented with two diametrically opposed assessments of the County’s finances. One would hope that the consultant and our Comptroller do not “dig heels” to prove to us who’s right and who’s wrong. There’s a lot at stake for all County residents and County Commissioners need to hear both sides of carefully and get this right. Why didn’t John Crawford attend the workshop? Citizens need an answer to this question.

In view of upcoming elections, I hope the Fernandina Observer sponsor some healthy debates on this key topic
