Amelia Island -Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce
Historic Fernandina Business Association
To the Editor:
Founding Father John Adams famously predicted in a letter to his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776, that the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence would become a great celebration in our country. It would be marked by, among other things, “bonfires and illuminations, from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.” Fernandina Beach has a long tradition of celebrating our nation’s birthday as Adam’s predicted – – with fireworks over the Amelia River.
Thanks to an outpouring of support from area businesses and individuals, that tradition will continue at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. On behalf of the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce and the Historic Fernandina Business Association, thank you to the following donors who have made this year’s Fernandina Beach Community Fourth of July Fireworks display possible.
Thanks also to the many whose names are not listed below who donated $25 or more and received a fundraising T-shirt. Your contributions were vital to the success of this initiative.

Even after our fundraising goal was met – in less than two weeks — donations have continued to come in. All funds over the needed $13,830 for this year’s display will be placed in escrow for next year and the AIFBY Chamber and HFBA will be meeting to discuss the future of the fireworks display.
We hope you will join us on this July 4th in celebrating with fireworks not only the birth of our country, but also the generosity and spirit of our community.
Sincerely,
Regina Duncan, CAE, CCE
