Fernandina Beach’s Organized Firefighters showed their support for library improvement efforts during the July 7, 2015 Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) meeting by presenting a big (literally) check in the amount of $500 to Friends of the Library President Bill Flynn. Firefighters Chett Lyncker and James Tucker represented their local in the presentation. Tucker reported that their organization plans to continue support fundraising efforts for library improvements by assisting in the November book sale and hosting a smoked chicken dinner, proceeds from which will be donated to the Friends of the Library.

Bill Flynn expressed appreciation on behalf of the Friends of the Library. “These first response responders, the bedrock of our community, not only risk their lives daily for us, but by this donation enrich our lives, demonstrating their commitment to lifelong learning,” Flynn said.

Plans for the chicken dinner are incomplete at this time but will be announced later this summer.
