Fernandina Beach Police reports shooting incident on Jasmine Place

On March 26, 2021, at 11:45 a.m., Officers from the Fernandina Beach Police Department responded to 12 Jasmine Place, concerning a report that a person had been shot. Officers arrived on scene at 11:46 a.m. and found a 24 year old male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was stabilized by members of the Fernandina Beach Fire/Rescue Department and then transported to the U.F. Health Trauma Center in Jacksonville. Medical personnel indicate that his injuries are not life threatening.

The initial investigation has determined that 21 year old, Channing Knapp, a roommate of the victim was the shooter and he is being charged with Aggravated Battery.

A third roommate, who is not a suspect, has been interviewed by police and it has been established that the incident stemmed from a household dispute.

This was an isolated incident and no other involved subjects are at large.
