Fernandina Beach Police Department recognizes outstanding officers and volunteers

The Fernandina Beach Police Department held its annual awards banquet on January 25, 2019 at the municipal golf course. Detective Michelle Arseneau was named 2018 Police Officer of the Year, while Bob Keller was chosen as our civilian Employee of the year. Sue Whitman and Brian Orban, members of our Police Auxiliary Corps, were selected as the Volunteers of the Year, and Steve Filkoff, Executive Director of the Fernandina Beach Police Foundation was given our Chaplain Don McFadyen Community Service Award. Officer Joshua Paetsch was selected to receive the department’s 2018 Traffic Safety and DUI Enforcement Award. Congratulations to all those being recognized and a special thank you to all those supporting our police officers, civilian employees, and volunteers.

Chief Jim Hurley with Officer Joshua Paetsch. Officer Paetsch received the 2018 Traffic Safety and DUI Enforcement Award.
Chief Jim Hurley with Officer D. J. Burling along with Officer Bulring’s wife, Lori and daughter, Jade. Officer Burling was recognized for 30 years of service to the Fernandina Beach Police Department.

Judith and Ken Loper with Karen McFadyen. Karen was nice enough to attend the banquet and present the Chaplain Don McFadyen Community Service Award. She also presented the FBPD with a commemorative plaque that Chaplain McFadyen received when he visited and ministered to NYPD officers just after the 9/11 terrorist attack.
