Fernandina Beach Main Street Program reports successful quarter

Fernandina Beach Main Street (FBMS) Executive Director Lisa Finkelstein updated the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) on her organization’s accomplishments during the first quarter of FY 2021/22 at the FBCC’s January 4, 2022 Regular Meeting.  She also provided financial updates and previews of activities planned for 2022.

Last Quarter Highlights

FBMS produced several successful events toward the end of 2021:

  • Downtown Trick or Treat:  October 29, 2021
  • Business Meet & Greet:  November 9, 2021
  • Black Friday Pajama Party (in partnership with PJD’s and the HFBA):  November 26, 2021
  • Dickens Window Painting (in partnership with the FBHS Art Department):  December 2021

Additionally FBMS supported two fun runs, and scheduled 10 promotional events for 2022.

What’s On Tap

  • Educational sessions for Main Street businesses
  • Launching an Adopt a Flowerbed Program
  • Obtain quotes on downtown sidewalk material options and install samples
  • Host a Sip & Shop to promote downtown businesses
  • Finalize the April 3rd “Pup Crawl” for the 8th Street Business District
  • Maintenance evaluation for Memorial Benches
  • Complete updating Wayfinding Table Maps
  • Assist property owners to fill vacancies
  • Evaluate traffic calming opportunities for 8th Street between Centre and Gum Streets

Budget

FBMS closed out FY 2020/21 with a surplus of $28,046, primarily due to successful fundraisers.  Total revenue exceeded budgeted expectations by 132%.

Finkelstein thanked the FBCC for its support as the organization kicks off what they hope will be another successful year of helping local businesses enhance revenue and bringing new attention to the downtown through events and improvements.
