Fernandina Beach High School Seniors receive awards – Part 3

Editor’s Note: This is the last in a series of photos we wish to share with our readers that were taken during the Fernandina Beach High School Awards Ceremony. We congratulate all of the graduating seniors for their many accomplishments.

Principal’s Awards

Dr. Mazzella and Vice Principal Chris Webber present Abby Hamilton with the Pirate Principals Award for Excellence.
Dr. Mazzella presents Walker Bean an “Award of Excellence” for serving as President of the Student Government.
Dr. Mazzella presents the Principal’s Award for Excellence to Jeanna Edwards for serving as President of the Senior Class.
The following students were recognized for achieving straight A’s every quarter for four years: Josie Kilburn, Carly Beverly, Mayahuel Hernandez, Katherine Doss, Carly Beverly, John “Tripp” Vonnoh, and Martin Tolxdorf.

Faculty Awards

Sebastian Miller and Emma Smith are awarded the Faculty Award for Citizenship.
Nathan Grimley and Madeline Windham receive the Faculty Award for School Spirit.
Kyle Richardson and Samantha Maltagliati receive Faculty Award for Leadership.
Walker Bean and Josie Kilburn receive the Faculty Award for Best All Around.

 

Department Awards

Achievement in Advanced Placement English

Gage Perna, Katherine Doss, Abigail Ramshaw, Josie Kilburn, and Martin Tolxdorf are recognized for Achievement  in Advanced Placement English.

Achievement in Creative Writing

Achievement in Creative Writing Award goes to Jacob Pierce and Rey Wade.

Distinguished Pen Award

Students recognized for the “Distinguished Pen Award” are Julian Cason, Gabby Gibb, Katherine Doss, Siara Lockwood, and Abby Hamilton. Not pictured is Hannah Masters.

Business Leadership Award

Emily Colson receives “Achievement in Graphic Design Award and Johnathan Maurer receives “Achievement in Business Leadership Award.”
Stephanie Adams who leads the Health Sciences/Nursing Assistants recognize students (in no particular order) Thainique Bailey, Camile Best, Erica Foote, Emily Gelis, Elizabeth Hoffer, Tucker Hutchinson, Rebecca McLellan, Abigail Nork, Demetria Pollard, Alexis Schulz, Kylie Tate, and Jhania Williams.

Scholarship Awards

Guidance Counselor Rob Hicks recognizes numerous FBHS Seniors who received college scholarship offers.

 

National Merit Finalist and Scholar
Top Senior Math/Science Student and
Ted Steger Memorial Physics Award

Josie Kilburn receives the Ted R Steger Memorial Physics Award along with being recognized as the “Top Senior Math/Science Student.”  She is also a National Merit Finalist and Scholar.

National Hispanic Recognition Program

Vice Principal Chris Webber recognizes Maya Hernandez who received recognition from the National Hispanic Recognition Program for PSAT/NMSQT scores.

College Boards Advanced Placement Program Exams

The following students have been recognized by the college Board for their exceptional achievement on the college level Advanced Placement Program Exams.  Each of these students scored in at least the top 18% out of 1.4 million.

AP Scholars of Distinction  recognize students who score 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores or 3 of higher on 5 or more exams.  The following students received this recognition.

Katrice Curis, Katherine Doss, Ryan Edwards, Gabrielle Gibb, Abby Hamilton, Josie Kilburn, Maddie Mott, Jakob Pierce, Christopher Steward, and Martin Tolxdorf.

AP Scholars with Honors recognize students who receive an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more exams.  The following students received this recognition.

Ethan Andrews, Carly Beverly, Maya Hernandez, Samanatha Maltagliati, Gage Perna, Abigail Ramshaw, and Tripp Vonnoh.

AP Scholars recognize students who complete three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher. The following students received this recognition.

Anna Arato, Hyden Bowen, Courtney Gill, Ashley Herrera, Elizabeth Hoffer, Brian Morris, Abigail Nork, Andie Parker, Alexis Schultz, Parker Smith, and Ava VonDyck.

Top 10 Juniors

The “Top 10 Juniors” based on GPA at the end of the first semester, will serve as junior marshalls/ushers during graduation exercises in 2018. (In no particular order)Serving as marshalls are Brody Mandelbaum, Jessica Poteat, Rilee Robbins, Cole Strain and as ushers Bryce Howell, Addison Lasserre, Michael MacNair, Mackenzie Millett, Nathan Pascual.
