Fernandina Beach High School Awards Class of 2016 – Part 3

Editor’s Note: On April 26, 2016, awards and scholarships were distributed to the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2016. This is the third in a series four we have posted over the last couple of days. Parents and students gathered in the multi-purpose room to honor graduating seniors for their many accomplishments. Our congratulations to the graduates. We hope you enjoy.

Over 25 students were awarded scholarships from colleges through out the country. Since some students were offered scholarships at multiple colleges, not all scholarships can be accepted. The total scholarship amounts including Bright Futures offered to the Class of 2016 was 6.4 million.

Coach Rowland recognized athletes in all sports. He then congratulated the district champion teams of Boys and Girls Soccer. The FBHS Cross Country Team secured the district runner up title and advanced to regionals. Seniors on the team were Gabi Czymbor, Dillion Basse, and Wesley Twiggs. The Women’s Basketball team won districts for the first time in 30 years. Seniors on the teams were Aja Evans and Alex Garrett.

Health Sciences/Nursing Assistant Awards received green cords to be worn at graduation. The cord signifies the highest achievements in medicine at the high school level. In no paticular order, Emma Armenta, Jenna Bagley, Michelle Bellinger, Yesenia diaz, Aja Evans, Maggie Martin, Justin Mora, Jesus Nease, Savannah Starrat, Katie Thomas, Zoe Thompson. Amelia Island Art Association presented by Dr. Lodree (principal) to Jacob Taylor $1000, and Victoria David $1500. Achievement in Advanced Placement English Literature Brett Burnette, Savannah Christianson, , Madeline Jarman, Blake Richardson, Christian Fasano, MacKenzie Monaghan, and Alyssa Stark.

College Board Advanced Placement Exams. Honored for exceptional achievement. (Each student scored in the top 18% out of 1.4 million. Hannah Alderson, Henry Arato, Hali Arseneau, David Beal, Gray Bean, Renee Cacciapouti, Brianne Cullen, Tristan Duncan, Lula Escoe, Jenna Lunt, Christopher McCranie, Allison Nelson, Micaela Preble, Blake Richardson, Ben Snyder and Alyssa Start.
