Press Release
April 29, 2017 2:00 p.m.

Aaron Morgan, founder and president of 8 Flags Playscapes an organization that spearheaded the formation of the new Egans Creek Park, leads a tour of the Egans Creek Park earlier today.

8 Flags Playscapes, Inc., a local non-profit, in partnership with the City of Fernandina Beach is proud to announce the opening of the new Egans Creek Park on April 29, 2017, at 4:00 p.m.

The mission of 8 Flags Playscapes is to enhance the community through the development of recreational environments that are universally accessible to all. The new Egans Creek Park features an accessible ¼-mile walking trail with fitness stations, accessible fitness equipment, a meditation labyrinth, an accessible fishing dock, and an accessible kayak launch.

Additionally, a large pavilion, accessible restrooms, and gazebos have been constructed at the park. To further enhance the space, a significant focus on the landscape design of the park included planting twelve Southern Live Oaks and a number of native species of plants placed in gardens throughout.

We invite you to be a part of this special occasion as we celebrate one of Amelia Island’s newest treasures.
