Driving tests resume June 1, 2020 for Nassau County residents

From the Nassau County Tax Collector’s Office
May 22, 2020

To protect our workforce and to help mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus in our community, we are temporarily limiting in-person services while practicing social distancing. Our office continues to serve the citizens of Nassau County remotely via phone/mail.

To support driving services for the citizens of Nassau County, I am implementing new remote driving test procedures for my office.

This new procedure will allow our staff to administer driving tests on our test track with the examiner outside the vehicle, utilizing a hands-free device such as a walkie-talkie while communicating instructions to the driver.

During the Remote Driving Test, the maneuvers will be graded using the current scoring criteria. Customers taking the remote driving test must have an accompanying licensed driver 21 years or older in the seat closest to the driver. The accompanying driver may not assist the customer during the driving test and may not be a driving school instructor.

Driving Tests will be appointment only beginning June 1, 2020. Nassau County residents Only.
