Dance Festival Heads-Up

The Amelia Island Dance Festival is bringing  back live and in-person dance for its fourth season, adding two matinees and 12 workshops. It will be a three-day series of performances and workshops at Amelia Community Theater in Fernandina Beach and the Courtyard Springhill by Marriott, Sept. 9-11.

If you love dance, festival founder Susan Dodge says, waste no time. Tickets will sell out in a matter of days.

The workshops, she says are for everyone: “Everyone is a dancer. You’re a dancer when you move to a beat, to the music that moves you. You move, which is dance.”

Featured artists and dance companies range from Carlos Garland, a frequent dancer in Broadway shows, to Jacksonville Dance Theatre, to Rhythm Theory Tap Ensenble, to local artists like Ballroom on Amelia, A Chance to Dance and The Island Tappers. And many more. Find complete details on the festival web site: ameliaislanddancefestival.org.

Performances are 7:30 – 9:30 pm Friday and Saurday and 2:00 to 4:00PM at Amelia Community Theater. Tickets can be purchased online at ameliaislanddancefestival.org, ameliacommunitytheater.org/box-office or in person at the theater box office, 207 Cedar St., Fernandina Beach, (904) 261-6749.
