A special meeting of the Fernandina Beach City Commission was held today to approve a sole source vendor approval to MARINETEK for concrete docks for the northern attenuator in an amount not to exceed $874,035. The resolution was approved by a unanimous vote.

According to City Manager Dale Martin, approval of the resolution allows MARINETEK to work more efficiently thereby saving the city two months of time and approximately $100,000 in costs.

Branson Lamb, marina project manager, said the concrete docks for the southern attenuator will arrive in mid-June, with the last dock sections arriving the first week in July. By the end of October, the southern attenuator will be installed and then with the arrival of additional concrete docks, work on the northern attenuator will begin.   Each  dock section is 60 feet long, weighs 60 tons.
