During a Fernandina Beach City Commission meeting on January 19, 2021, the City of Fernandina Beach formally recognized the service of Fire Department Captain Benjamin Forehand, who retired following 32 years of service on December 31, 2020.  Mayor Mike Lednovich presented a City Proclamation of Appreciation to Forehand in which Forehand’s exemplary service and personal qualities were extolled.

In addition to receiving the Proclamation, Forehand also received his helmet from Fire Chief Ty Silcox and his axe from the local firefighters’ union representative, James Tucker.  Fellow members of the City’s Fire Department staff joined Forehand as he received his recognition.

Forehand, in accepting the recognition, noted that he was a city native who was grateful for the opportunity to serve his community for so many years.

He thanked presenters for their support and recognition.
