The City of Fernandina Beach has recently announced the appointment of Tony Perez-Guerra as the new Building Official. Mr. Perez-Guerra will serve as the City’s administrator for the Florida Building Code and the City’s floodplain management program. He is the newest member of the Community Development Department’s staff.

Mr. Perez-Guerra most recently served as a building inspector in Nassau County and has also worked in the building department at the City of Jacksonville. He also served as the Building Official in Neptune Beach. In addition, Mr. Perez-Guerra has years of experience in building and construction with the private sector. He is a Building Code Administrator and a Certified Floodplain Manager.

Robert Sasser, former Building Official, retired on March 3 after five years of service to the City.  City colleagues and friends feted him with a farewell lunch.  Bob and his wife plan to spend time traveling in their RV during retirement.
