Library supporters who have spent years trying to convince city and county officials that the expansion of the current Fernandina Beach of the Nassau County Library is a worthy project will learn tonight if the City Commission will support their efforts.  After a presentation by VRL Architects, Inc. the commission will be asked to approve the architect’s  conceptional plan followed by an “tri-party” inter-local agreement with the  County of Nassau, and  Friends of the Library “to expend up to $600,000 of the estimated project cost of 1.6 million for the expansion and renovation” of the Fernandina library branch.

Also on the agenda as a  discussion, direction, or action item is the Forward Fernandina bank loan.  The 2.43% bank loan amounting to 1.8 million dollars is a fixed rate with a 15 year amortization.  Of the 1.8 million borrowed in 2011,  $600,000 was dedicated for the library project.  Commissioners Ed Boner and Pat Gass requested the Forward Fernandina bank loan be placed on the agenda.

The commission meeting will be held in the City of Fernandina Beach Commission Chambers and will begin at 6:00 p.m.  The meeting can be viewed on Comcast channel 264 or via computer live streaming by clicking here.
