Pat K. Gass, Candidate Group 5

What do you see as the biggest opportunity facing the city of Fernandina Beach today and how would you take advantage of it?

“The biggest opportunity facing the city of Fernandina Beach today is our lack of money. Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are. Our short fall on funds is forcing us to see ourselves as we really are. We must continue to slowly move forward together as we actively assess who we are, where we have come from and map the course on where we are headed. This ‘big opportunity’ has been afforded to us by the decisions we have made. It is best to embrace these times and give thanks that we ran out of money ‘before’ we ran up too much debt.”

Editor’s Note:  This is the third question in a series of five posed to candidates for the Fernandina Beach City Commission.   The answers come to our readers unedited and in the candidates own words.  We rotate the order of candidates from week to week.  Ed Boner and incumbent Tim Poynter will seek Group 4, John Campbell Elwell and Pat K Gass will seek  Group 5.
