City commission candidate Ed Boner explains how to bring closer cooperation between the city and county

City Commission Candidate, Group 4

Ed Boner, Candidate Group 4

Please explain how you would be able to bring about closer cooperation between the city and the county to lower taxes and improve efficiency.

“Some of the cooperation depends on the balance of the city and county commission. I can say that my relationship is very good with a number of the current county commissioners, port authority members and city commissioners. I endorsed several sitting commission members and agreed with their ideas. Working together means setting aside differences to look for the best solutions. As a broker, I excel at finding solutions beneficial to two or more parties. The city and county are, in my opinion, often no different. Each party looks for the benefit. Our interest as a city is restricted to a fairly small area, so our views and goals, as “Fernandina Locals” are sometimes different. Considering fresh mutually beneficial relationships is best.”

Editor’s Note:  This is the fifth of seven questions in a series  posed to candidates for the Fernandina Beach City Commission.   The answers come to our readers unedited and in the candidates own words.  We rotate the order of candidates from week to week.  Ed Boner and incumbent Tim Poynter will seek Group 4, John Campbell Elwell and Pat K Gass will seek  Group 5.
