Many of us without families nearby, are caught at the last minute, looking for a place to eat 
on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This reporter surveyed 37 restaurants on Amelia Island and found that although many are open on Christmas Eve, only four restaurants are open for Christmas Day: O’Kanes, Pablo’s, Jack and Diane’s, and David’s. However, reservations are probably a good idea, as some of these were already filling up.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day were much more likely to be open both days and it sounded like there is quite a lot of partying planned at many of the restaurants. Also to be noted, the city of Fernandina Beach’s offices will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but open New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day.
To be noted, The Verandah is closed until late February for renovations and even Huddle House on the Island is closed Christmas Day (for my editor).
