Our plans for the Amelia River Club project, which we believe would have provided numerous benefits for the community including an estimated $40 million annual economic impact, required an extensive commitment that included a long-term lease on the property. The current lease owners determined that they only wanted to sell the lease “as is,” therefore it no longer met our needs. As a result, we are seeking opportunities with other communities that have shown an interest in this project. We understand a different potential leaseholder has plans for that property that will be shared soon. We wish them well and hope that the community embraces these exciting new opportunities.
The community made it very clear that this project was grossly inappropriate for Amelia Island. Thank you to all of those who made their opposition known.
