January Youth of the Month

Tristen Shields

Roberts Learning & Achievement Center

Tristen Shields, a 14-year old 7th grader at Fernandina Beach Middle School, has been a Boys & Girls Clubs member since 2011. He loves coming to the Club to see his friends and loves telling people at school about the Club so they come and join!

Tristen loves music by Travis Scott and watching LeBron James play basketball. His favorite class in school is science but he wants to be a music producer to create lasting memories through music when he grows up. Mr. Shields credits the Club with helping him be a better person both at home and school.

Miller Freedom Center

Andre Meuses

Andre Meuses is an exceptional, even-tempered, intelligent, and well-spoken 11-year old at the Miller Freedom Center Club. Mr. Mueses was chosen as January’s Youth of the Month because staff and fellow members alike all enjoy his witty jokes and playful personality. He loves serving as a mentor to some of the younger Club members. DO NOT challenge him to Mario Kart though, because he currently holds all of the highest records on all of the tracks.

When he’s not at the Club, he loves watching TV with his Pitbull/Lab mix, Lacey. Andre loves math and science and is smart enough to know that while he hasn’t decided exactly what he wants to do when he grows up, he still has plenty of time to think about it.
