Recently Amelia Island Book Festival supporters joined in a lumberjack cheer at Mocama Beer with former World Logrolling Champion, Kristine Ochu, author of Campfire Confessions.

This Books & Beer fund-raising event supported the local non-profit Amelia Island Book Festival and its literacy programs. It was hosted by Mocama Beer and showcased Kristine Ochu in an adventure-packed night of story-telling.

“Learning how their Authors in Schools programs brings authors into every school in Nassau County from pre-school through high school, fueled my passion to support this organization,” Ochu said. “Plus, how they support families to read together, distribute books into the hands of students, partner with libraries, and award college scholarships is outstanding. And to top it off they bring in authors from around the world, including New York Times best selling authors, during their annual book festival.”

The crowd was treated to real life photos and videos of lumberjacks in action as they chopped, sawed, logrolled and climbed up 100-foot poles. Ochu shared her personal journey as a world champion logroller, her love of adventure along with her near-death experiences that inspired her women’s fiction novel, Campfire Confessions.
