Indications are that Bonhams is pleased with the results from their first Amelia Island Car Auction held at the Fernandina Beach Golf Course this past week.  According to ClassicandPerformanceCars.com which covers “the biggest auctions from around the world,” a record breaking price of 1.76 million dollars was received on a Cord L-29.

The ClassicandPerformance.com quotes Rupert Banner, Bonhams Motoring Department’s VP of Business Development, who said, “We couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The community of Fernandina Beach, particularly the mayor, city council and the folks at Micah’s Place were tremendously supportive and welcoming and it made for a very conducive and enjoyable event.”

The #1 Car show in the World on Amelia Island, and we just added Bonhams Car Auction to the list of activities for the event. Now that is VIBRANT. Perhaps Ms. DiBella our newly hired, just out of school. Executive Director of the Nassau County Development Board could share with us her vision of vibrant. Could that be six lane highways.? More glorified strip malls along sr200/a1a increasing traffic on Chester road by a factor of (10) 6,000/ day to 60,000/ day. Double the Truck and Rail along this corridor into our wonderful Island and Historic District. And just where is main street in Yulee? Let’s have a show of hands, who wants to move off of Amelia Island and become a part of this Yulee vibrancy.
