Sheriff Bill Leeper announced today the arrest of a suspect who robbed the Southeastern Bank in Yulee, Florida on April 22, 2015 and May 22, 2015.

The suspect has been identified as 45 year old Benjamin Held from Virginia. He was arrested in Jacksonville by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on June 15, 2015, on bank robbery charges in their jurisdiction. Held is believed to be responsible for additional bank robberies in several other states as well. The suspect was living at a hotel in Jacksonville at the time of his arrest.

The suspect entered the Southeastern Bank and gave the teller a note demanding all the money she had in her drawer. After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect ran to a nearby parking lot and fled in a silver 4 door sedan. The teller advised that the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

Unified efforts from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and many other Law Enforcement agencies were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and ultimately the suspect.
