Off 1
Saturday brought a sunny morning and the Amelia Auto Legends to the Starbucks parking lot with their prized cars. As one of the members put it, there are no dues, no rules, and no meetings, just get-togethers. Steve Potter and the group were gathered around his 1929 Ford Roadster when Andy pulled up with his 1984 -944 Porsche. This group is for car buffs, sports, antiques or whatever. But, as it was still early, there was lots of time for more to show up.

Tom Cote-Merow started the Legends group in 2009.There are now over 100 enthusiasts, meeting the 3rd Saturday of the month for coffee and conversation. For more info you can contact Tom at [email protected].

Grand Openings to Come…

Off - 2

Nana Teresa’s Bake Shop is hoping to open at the corner of South 6th and Ash Street, where the old Luigi’s had a lovely courtyard and porch which will be great for lingering over specialty coffees and desserts. The bakery will feature cannolis, cup cakes and cakes (to order as well). Hopefully, they will be opening this week. You can check out their website at Nanateresa’sbakeshop.com.

Off - 3As reported in Fernandina Observer, Roger T. Morenc, owner of Marlin and Barrel Distillery is hoping to open this new venture at 115 South 2nd Street at least in time for Florida-Georgia weekend.

Off the Island . . .

Watch for a Grand Opening in a few weeks of The Savory Market in the Deer Walk Plaza strip mall on the eastbound lanes of A1A State Road 200. This specialty grocery and produce store features all kinds of surprises and great ideas for a quick lunch or dinner. Need several types of honey? More on this gem to follow.

Look for details in next week’s column about “Just Sew’s” expansion to two off-island locations. Just Sew has been doing business with alterations for many years on the island (now at the 24 Hour Laundry location by the movie theater on South 14th Street.)
