The Eight Flags Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) met on July 17, 2014, awarding their yearly college scholarship. Ms. Ansley Howard of Yulee, FL was awarded the $2,000.00 scholarship. Ansley is the daughter of Jan Howard and Jonathan Howard. Ansley graduated from Sonshine Christian Academy on May 18, 2014; while attending high school, Ansley was dually enrolled at Florida State College at Jacksonville and acquired her Associates degree. Ansley will be attending college at the University of South Florida, and will acquire her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Bio-chemistry. Ansley’s ultimate career aspiration is to be an oncologist or an onco-genetic researcher. Yes, she is a very energetic young lady!

In her young life she has kept busy with various community projects. Two of her favorite experiences were attending Nassau County’s Youth Leadership Nassau program, being the youngest person to do so. Upon graduation from this program, she was asked to be a Peer Leader for “Youth Nassau”, helping to plan the following years’ activities and led their leadership development program. Her second beloved experience is assisting her father with his wildlife rehabilitation program. This program is focused on rescuing animals from the wild that may be sick or hurt, nursing these animals back to full health and releasing them back into their natural habitat. The Eight Flags Chapter of ABWA proudly recognizes Ansley and is honored to have awarded this year’s scholarship to such a deserving young woman.
