A groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the commencement of the American Beach water and sewer conversion project will take place on Wednesday, August 31 at 9:30 am.
The event will be held on two vacant county-owned lots near the intersection of Gregg and Lewis streets. Parking will be at the Burney Park Beach Access a short walk away. Shuttles will be available, as well.
The celebratory mood will be heightened by the fact that county leaders have pledged to completely fund the project from state revolving funds and non ad valorem funds, sparing residents any assessments for the work — which has an estimated cost of $9-$11 million.
